SmokeNet
is a dynamic wireless sensor network composed of four main types of
communication nodes. The wireless network layer is implemented
using Moteiv Telos motes. Each node has its own functions and set
of sensors. The first type of node is the smoke detector that contains
smoke and deferential temperature sensors, whereas the “stoplight” nodes
are made up of three bright LEDs that are used to visually convey critical
information about a given room or exit path that a firefighter and or
occupant may take before they enter. These stoplight nodes are
placed above each doorway in a location that can easily be seen. The
smoke detector nodes would replace the current smoke sensors used in
the building. The backbone of the communication layer for SmokeNet
is made up of these preinstalled smoke detector and stoplight nodes because
of their static location and placement throughout the building. |
